CHAPTER TEN

He stood on the porch, desperate to control the raging need inside him, but it was no use. He’d pushed himself to his limit while bathing Angel, and her kiss broke him.

Striding off the porch, he turned toward the incline of his mountain and lay down face first in the snow. The coolness of it was noticeable, but it did little to tamp down his need to release.

Rolling over, he brought his hand to his cock, stroking it quickly. Even as he stared at the clouds gathering in the sky, his body bowed as his seed flowed over his tip and into his moving hand.

It left him wanting.

He sat up and cleaned himself with the snow. Washing Angel had been ecstasy and torture all at once. Her body was so different from his and every erogenous zone written about in the books he’d read was far more pleasing to him than the last.

It was one thing to read and look at pictures, but to feel a woman’s body, in particular Angel’s, was a new experience. She was soft everywhere as if made to embrace his hard lines. If he were a man, he wouldn’t hesitate to take what she offered.

If he were a man.

The age-old anger against Victor reared its ugly head, the one that sent him down the dark path of revenge. He must be strong against it. The ramifications of his crimes were too hard to live with even now. If he took Angel, all hope for redemption would be lost.

Unless…hope, that new and fragile concept, rose to spite him. Unless it was what she wanted. Her interest in him was obvious from her questions to her kisses. What if pleasing her was the way to peace. Is that not what he’d been doing?

No, he’d been healing her. Saving her from death’s grasping hands. That is what fate wanted. Did fate also want him to please her? Make her happy?

And when she left? His chest tightened. When she left, it would cause a pain like none he’d ever experienced. He thought he’d hurt when his mate was destroyed, but it would be nothing compared to Angel’s departure.

Would he then be trading one torture for another?

He spread his legs out and leaned back on his hands, trying to feel the cold of the snow, the chill of the air, even the moisture of the clouds. It was there, sensations, but only shadows of what they’d once been. In another hundred years, would he feel anything?

The thought sent panic racing through him. There was very little he feared now, but the inability to feel was one. This might be his only chance to know what it was like to be with a woman. As the thought took hold, it grew stronger by the second.

He jumped to his feet and strode to his outdoor shower. He would feel while he still could. Opening the lever, he washed quickly, then skipped the steps all together as he jumped onto the porch.

He opened the door with such force, it banged against the wall.
